A Child's Letter · Armenia → Russia

Dear Aunt!

I am writing you this letter. I received yours and read it, and I am going to do everything you asked me to. But before I get to that — how are you doing? How is your health, and how is the weather there? How are Artyom, Karenchik, Davitik, Garzik, Amazik, Yura, Liana, Timurushik, Vago, Vakho, Gago, little Ovik, Khachik, Gayane, Garik, Luiza, and everyone else? Please say hi to all of them from me.

Now, back to your letter. Every evening, Mom and us read the book together and pray. When Mom is busy, I read it with Albert and Misha. When Mom is not feeling well or has a headache, Albert and I pray together on our own. In one evening we usually get through around five to seven chapters. Mom has already read this book three times — I am reading it for the first time, but I already know quite a bit. We are almost done with the book of John and will start reading about the Apostles soon. Dady prays with us sometimes too.

Here is some of what I have learned: Mary had Jesus by the Holy Spirit. When He grew up, He preached the Gospel — He went to every city, healed sick people, gave blind people their sight back, raised the dead, and cast out demons. After they put Him on the cross, He came back to life on the third day. He had twelve disciples that He gathered as He walked the earth. He loved all of them and they loved Him too — all except one. Judas Iscariot betrayed Him. Peter loved Jesus more than anyone. The disciples could not stand to be without Him even for one hour.

I also know that we have to pray to Jesus — that He is the only way to be saved, and that His blood is what saves us. And I know that one day the world will come to an end. But the most important thing of all is this: do not steal, do not hurt people, do not fight, do not smoke, and do not drink.

I am sorry that when you were here I did not care about any of this. But when we come in the summer again, we will pray to Jesus Christ together.

For now — goodbye! I am in a hurry to write to Tati (grandma) too, because little Aunt Emma and Mishka are rushing me.

Come visit us soon! Dad is coming to you soon, please make him pray with you!

Akop, Dady, Mama, and Albert

P.S. If we are praying wrong or doing something we should not be doing, please write and tell us.
